I feel like I’m definitely one of those bloggers that is extremely wary of any kind of hype. I don’t really know why but I wait forever after something is released to purchase it and if there’s a mass mouth of hype around it, I wait even longer. This honestly probably bites me in the butt because I’m never on the front end of new in products but that really doesn’t bother me. Once a lot of the hype has died down, I’ll be more likely to try out the products, and it’s usually a about a 50% chance I’ll agree with the hype. That also leave an equal 50% chance I won’t agree at all, but I try to avoid that because I don’t want to be disappointed into something I chose to spend my money on — who would?!

As a skincare lover, I’m constantly looking for new and interesting products that will help my skin but that comes with digging though a lot of over-hyped up products to find ones that are actually good. There’s two specific products in the cleanser family that I truly believe deserve the hype they got, and have really lived up to it. Believe me, that’s a big statement coming from me. Of course, if you’re a part of the beauty and blogging community, these two will be absolutely no surprise, but I’m just here to reaffirm what everyone has already said. Basically I’m just another voice whispering in your ear telling to “buy it, buy it“. Sorry.

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser

Glossier, our new beauty overlord. Let’s be real, in the past year or so, Glossier has taken the beauty industry by storm and to be honest, I don’t hear anyone complaining. Myself included, don’t get me wrong! I made my first purchase from Glossier in March of this year, after months of um-ing and ah-ing about whether or not it could really be as good as the world said it was. In my brand focus on Glossier, I spoke a bit about each of the products I picked up, one of them being the Milky Jelly Cleanser. I previously stated my concerns about it being a conditioning cleanser and how I wasn’t sure that would go down with with my already oily t-zone, but I can tell you with extreme confidence and four months of use under my belt, this product has made an amazing difference to my skin.

While I was using this rather infrequently while I was still in school because, well, it was the first year college and just managing to eat properly and sleep was a chore enough let alone trying to keep up with a skincare routine, since I’ve been home I’ve used this pretty much every night. I’v noticed a massive difference with not only how my skin looks but also how it feels. I’ve had a history of acne and I still get trouble spots combined with a lot of redness. Also in the last few months, I’ve been dealing with a lot of textural issues especially around my cheeks and nose. This cleanser has seriously helped reduce a lot of those problems: it calms the redness, I’ve had a lot fewer of acne problems and the surface texture of my face has gotten so much smoother. I really don’t have anything negative to say! Glossier, my love, you’re an absolute gem.

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel

Oskia Renaissance, a brand that we only hear excited whispers of in the US because it’s ~kinda~ hard to get and I rarely hear it talked about outside of the international beauty industry. I finally decided to to just bite the bullet and and pay the customs fee for the opportunity to make my own opinion on this infamous cleanser. I tend to use this gel a little less frequently because it was a bit harder to get and a bit more expensive so I treat it more as a luxury product. When I do decide to use this, I love every minute of it. The gel smells absolutely divine, and it sinks quite nicely into the skin. It’s also very conditioning so it shares many aspects and outcomes with the Milky Jelly Cleanser and I find that it acts very similarly.

In regards to speaking about the brand Oskia as a whole, I am actually unable to do so because this is the only product I have tried. As I mentioned before, this cleanser is a bit more of a luxury item, and that aligns with the pricing of the brand in its entirety. I’d love the chance to try other products from the brand because they get a lot of love from so many people online, I just don’t know where to start! Let me know if you have any suggestions!

What cleansers have you found that live up to the hype?
